Japan-based company Metaplanet announced that it has purchased an additional 775 BTC, continuing its bullish outlook for the world’s largest crypto asset.

Metaplanet Increases Bitcoin Holdings to 18,888 BTC

According to the announcement made by Company President Simon Gerovich on the X platform, the total value of the acquisition, which was made at an average cost of $120,006, was approximately $93 million.

Following the latest investment, Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings reached 18,888 BTC. The total value of these assets is $1.94 billion, with an average purchase price of $102,653. “18,888 BTC. Onward, upward,” Gerovich wrote in his post.

According to Bitcointreasuries data, Metaplanet, which launched its Bitcoin accumulation strategy in April 2024, is the seventh company holding the most Bitcoin on a global scale as of today.

According to the company’s second-quarter financial report released last week, total revenue rose 41 percent quarter-over-quarter to 1.2 billion yen ($8.4 million). Net income rebounded from a 5 billion yen ($34.2 million) loss in the first quarter to a profit of 11.1 billion yen ($75.1 million).

Metaplanet said it maintained its 2025 forecast for total revenue of 3.4 billion yen and operating profit of 2.5 billion yen. However, the company’s shares fell 8.6 percent last week on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, closing at 866 yen. However, the shares recovered 0.6 percent at the beginning of the week.

Gerovich stated that the Bitcoin-focused revenue model has been growing for three consecutive quarters, adding, “This regular revenue increases our resilience and provides flexibility for new acquisitions.”
